Blancpain’s new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe

Blancpain, the renowned Swiss watchmaker, has launched two new versions of its iconic Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe. These models not only excel in deep-sea performance but also in versatility and elegance, making them perfect for both aquatic activities and daily wear.

A historical icon

The Fifty Fathoms, born in the 1950s, was originally developed for the Nageurs de Combat, the combat swimmer unit of the French military. This watch was designed with a robust and anti-magnetic case, luminescent hands and indices, and a protected rotating bezel, all necessary to withstand the demands of professional diving. The Bathyscaphe version, introduced in 1956, adapted these features into a flatter and smaller design, ideal for everyday use outside of the water.

High-tech materials and innovative design

This year, Blancpain has expanded the Bathyscaphe line with two new interpretations of the Quantième Complet model, previously only available in steel. Now, enthusiasts can choose between a red gold version with a blue gradient dial and a titanium version with an anthracite dial.

The red gold model combines luxury and functionality. Its blue gradient dial adds a touch of sophistication and dynamism, while its 43 mm diameter case and shiny blue ceramic bezel ensure durability and style. This watch, with a nylon or sailcloth strap, is a perfect example of how Blancpain blends watchmaking tradition with modern needs.

The titanium model offers a lighter alternative without sacrificing strength. Its anthracite dial gives it a contemporary and elegant look. The option to pair it with a titanium bracelet or gray nylon or sailcloth straps allows for customization that suits different styles and occasions.

Both models feature the caliber 6654.P, an automatic movement with a 72-hour power reserve. This sophisticated mechanism drives the watch’s complete calendar, displaying the day of the week, month, date, and moon phases. Despite these complications, the watch maintains its ability to dive up to 300 meters, making it a true diving instrument.

Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet is not only a testament to Swiss watchmaking mastery but also a fashion piece that can elevate any outfit. From professional settings to beach getaways, these watches combine the best of both worlds: robustness and elegance.

With prices ranging from 15.640€ for the titanium model to 31.170€ for the red gold version with a sailcloth strap, these watches represent an investment in style and functionality.
